LEGACY INTERVIEWS

Their knowledge
shouldn’t retire with them.

A Legacy Interview is a guided conversation at the machine with the person who knows it best. We ask the questions a new technician would ask, keep the answers in their words, and put them on that machine’s PlantLore page, one QR scan away for every shift.

WHY IT MATTERS

Every machine has a story.
Almost none of it is written down.

  • 1994: Won’t advance? Wipe the sensor face. Sawdust, not a bad sensor. M.R.
  • 2007: Left guide sits low. Shim it 1/16 inch. The manual’s wrong. D.T.
  • 2019: Drain the air dryer by hand, every second shift. J.K.

Legacy Interviews write it down, with the name of the person who knew it, before they leave.

WHO TO INTERVIEW

Start with the people you’d miss most.

  • The one heading for retirement

Decades of fixes, workarounds, and “the manual’s wrong” moments that leave with them.

  • The one everyone calls at 2 AM

If the plant runs on their phone number, their know-how belongs at the machine.

  • The operator who hears it first

The sounds, smells, and early signs that a machine is about to go down.

HOW A SESSION WORKS

Three steps. Nothing to learn.

  1. 1

    Before

We agree on the machine, the person, and a time that fits their shift. They read the consent form and choose what may be recorded.

  2. 2

    At the machine

A guided interview on the floor: the problems that keep coming back, why things were modified, the quirks, and the hazards. Photos, short videos, and voice clips, only with their permission.

  3. 3

    After

We write it up in their words on the machine’s page. They review it, and a manager marks it Verified. Then every shift finds it with a QR scan or a quick question.

WHAT YOU GET

Their know-how, on the machine, for every shift.

  • Fixes in their words

Problems, causes, and fixes on each machine’s page, written the way they’d explain it.

  • Safety first

Lockout points and hazards they point out come first, marked in red.

  • Photos, video, and their voice

Short clips of the adjustment, the sound, the spot to check, played right on the machine page.

  • Their name on it

Everything they share carries their name. Their experience is credited, not lost.

  • Answers in seconds

Anyone can ask the app “Nailer 2 won’t advance” and get the fix they recorded.

  • English and Spanish

Every screen in both, and entries can be translated automatically if your company opts in.

Questions

Does the veteran need to be good with computers?

No. They talk and show; we do the writing. Afterward they just read what we wrote and tell us what to fix.

What if something they say is wrong or out of date?

Nothing is marked Verified until they review it and a manager confirms it. Your team can update it later, and an edited fix goes back for review.

Can our people keep adding knowledge themselves?

Yes. After the interview, anyone you invite can add fixes, photos, videos, and voice notes from their phone, right at the machine.

Can the interview be in Spanish?

Yes. Interviews, the app, and the written entries can be in English or Spanish.

Pick the person and the machine.

Tell us who you can’t afford to lose and which machine they know best. We’ll show you PlantLore and plan the first interview around their shift.

Keep the knowledge.
Find the fix.

See PlantLore on a real machine. Then we’ll review one of your machines with your maintenance lead, for free, and leave you a one-page sheet of its top five failures and fixes, whether or not you buy.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
  1. 1Tom reaches out to set a time that works for your shifts.
  2. 2A short call and a live demo on a real machine.
  3. 3A free review of one of your machines, with your maintenance lead.

The people may change. Your plant should keep what it learned.
